Encountering God

📖 Verse: Exodus 33:3, 5, 13–15, 17–18

🔍 Verse in Context – 7 Reflections

• God, frustrated with Israel’s rebellion, contemplates sending them forward on their own.
• Moses pleads on behalf of the people: “This nation is Yours.”
• He asks not for success, but for God’s presence—nothing else will do.
• God responds: “I will go with you and give you rest.”
• Moses presses further: “Show me your glory.”
• This becomes the moment when God describes God’s own self (Exodus 34:6–7)—merciful and gracious.
• Moses teaches us not just to obey God, but to want God.
